The defeat drops Detroit to 39-27-8 and continues a concerning trend of poor starts. Dylan Larkin scored on a power play, but the Penguins built a 3-0 lead by the 8-minute mark of the first period.

Former Wing Anthony Mantha contributed a goal and helped Pittsburgh secure the win, marking his 30th of the season.
