Red Sox's Oviedo's Velocity Down 2.5 mph, Still Healthy

Red Sox pitcher Johan Oviedo’s fastball velocity fell 2.5 mph in his first regular‑season start, but manager Alex Cora says he is healthy and the team is optimistic.

In his first regular‑season outing, Oviedo gave up four runs, six hits and two homers over 3 ⅔ innings, while his 25 four‑seam fastballs averaged 93.0 mph, 2.5 mph slower than last season’s 95.5 mph average.

Despite the drop, Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed Oviedo is healthy and the team will keep his routine structured, remaining flexible if needed.
