Mets' Torrens delivers clutch pinch-hit double vs Giants

New York Mets catcher Luis Torrens delivered a game-tying two-run double in the eighth inning off San Francisco Giants left-hander Erik Miller. Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed the team had prepared Torrens for a pinch-hitting opportunity before the game even started.

Trailing 2-1 with runners on second and third and one out, Torrens worked the count full against Miller before driving a 3-2 changeup into the right-field corner for a double. The hit sparked a four-run rally, helping the Mets secure a 5-2 victory.

"I was prepared even before the game," Torrens said. Mendoza praised Torrens' ability to slow the game down and hit the ball the other way, crediting bench coach Kai Correa for identifying the matchup earlier in the day.
