UConn coach Geno Auriemma has apologized directly to South Carolina's Dawn Staley for their fiery exchange at the end of Friday's Final Four game.

UConn coach Geno Auriemma issued a direct apology to South Carolina's Dawn Staley on Tuesday for their heated exchange at the conclusion of Friday's Final Four contest.

Auriemma admitted in a statement that he "lost himself" during the argument, noting that while he has lost many games in the Final Four, he lost something more important that day.
